We Offer the Best Drywall Finishing in St Louis, MO

If you need drywall panels installed for your walls and ceilings, our team of experts will give you a room with clear lines and smooth corners. That is how we want to finish all our drywall projects. However, there are times when architects will give specific instructions on what type of drywall finish to use for different parts of the home. While our team is familiar with the various levels of drywall finishing, you may not be. So here are the levels of drywall finishing that our company can create for your home or office space.

The Different Levels of Drywall Finishing

To solve the problem in defining what finishes architects and contractors need for specific rooms, several organizations such as the Gypsum Association, the Drywall Finishing Council, and the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry got together to create clear-cut definitions of the levels of finishing that are required for specific projects. The following levels were made, which our team of drywall experts can provide for you.

Level 0 Finish. Level 0 Finish means that the installed drywall panels are only temporary, or nobody except the construction crew will get to see them. This finish means that we will not put tape, coats of mud, or corner beads on the installed panels. This type of finish may be suitable for providing cover against the outside elements during ongoing construction.

Level 1 Finish. Like the Level 0 Finish, Level 1 is not meant to be seen by the public. Level 1 finishes are meant for panels tucked away in a service corridor or an attic. When we create Level 1 finishes, we will tape all the angles and joints without covering the tape with a mud layer.

Level 2 Finish. Level 2 Finished panels are ideal for garage walls or a warehouse focusing on functionality rather than aesthetics. Most often than not, Level 2 finishes will serve as a substrate for cladding or tiles. When we create level 2 finishes, we will apply a coat of mud over fasteners and corner beads.

Level 3 Finish. We can also provide you with level 3 finished walls. We will add a second layer of mud coating to hide all the screws, tape, and fasteners for this type of finish. We will also cover and smoothen all the corner beads with compound. However, this finish will still be rough and will serve as a substrate for medium to heavily sprayed finishes such as stucco.

Level 4 Finish. Level 4 is a step up from level 3, where we will smoothen the mud and compound coatings of the drywall panels, making them ready for flat and enamel paints. Most wall and ceiling installations for the main areas of the house will need a level 4 finish.

Level 5 Finish. If you need drywall panels that are perfectly smooth and flat, we can give you a level 5 finished wall and ceiling. This finish will include all the measures in level 4 plus an additional coating of smoothing compound that will cover the panel’s entire surface. This finish is best used as a substrate for high-gloss paint and intense lighting.

By knowing the different types of finishes that your drywall can have, you may easily communicate with us which ones you will need for the other areas of your house. We will also give you advice on which finish level to apply to so that you can save money in some areas. You can call our team of experts to assess which type of finish you will need for your project.
